Kia Teams Up With Kinetic Motorsports for the Kia Rio5 B-Spec

The Kia Rio5 has only recently started arriving at dealerships nationwide, but Kia has already unveiled some sportier variants for speed enthusiasts. Earlier this month, Kia showed up at the SEMA show in Vegas with a Rio5 B-Spec, specially designed for racing in GRAND-AM, the Pirelli World Challenge, the Sports Car Club of America and the National Auto Sport Association. What's more - you can get behind the wheel of your very own Kia Rio B-Spec for under $30k.
That's right. The Kia Rio5 has a base price of just $13,600. For an additional $14,000, any avid do-it-yourselfer can buy the kit and build a zippy racer. When purchased from Kinetic Motorsports, the kit includes a roll cage, racing seat, quick-release steering wheel, race harness, shocks, light weight wheels, spec-series tires, an oil sump pan expansion kit, and yes, even instructions. You don't have to be an expert welder to build your race car, though. For $6,000, Kinetic Motorsports will put it together at their Buford, GA plant.
Okay, so maybe you're wondering why Kia would decide to expand on their new Rio5 so soon after its release? Michael Sprague, Kia Motors America, explains, "We have a unique opportunity to introduce Kia to a new and passionate racing community by providing an affordable and great-looking race car that delivers best-in-class horsepower in the rapidly expanding B-segment,"1. With a 1.6-liter, 4-cylinder GDI engine, Palm Kia thinks this is the perfect model to help Kia get their footing in the racing world.
We're sure to see more speedy refinements from the Korean automaker, but in the meantime, why not stop by and see all of the performance-driven new Kia models in our showroom at 2305 SW College Rd Ocala, FL 34471.
